Shopping at my local Spec’s Liquor Store, I saw a 4 pack of this Rye IPA. It caught my attention, cause so far I have really liked most Rye IPA’s that I have had. I really couldn’t wait to taste this beer. I actually waited a couple of days before I opened up the first one. Well worth the wait!

I used a Freetail Brewing Company pint glass, the beer poured a nice copper color with a foamy white head that stayed a good while, leaving  a good soapy looking lacing. Very nice looking, indeed!

The aroma of this beer is pure hops. Smells of citrus, pine, a bit earthy (dirt like). This smell reminds me of a cactus. I have been saying that about IPAs for years. Just off the smell alone, it really brought me back to the days when I was first trying IPAs. Ah, the good ‘ol days of my youth! haha!

In taste, the hops hit you up front. A very bitter, spicy start, a little bit of caramel in the middle, and it finishes with a bit more hops, and rye. The rye finish leaves a spicy dryness in your throat that lingers there for a while. How tasty!

This beer is definitely full bodied, good medium carbonation, very crisp. Very easy to drink. But seriously, Hop Heads rejoice! Lazy Magnolia has made a beer for us! Do me a favor, and pick up this beer and give it to your Miller Lite drinking friends, since that beer is advertised with the laughable triple hopped slogan, and give them a taste of this. Let them know what hops are supposed to taste like in a beer!

Seeing as this did remind me of going back to earlier times of drinking IPAs, I decided to go with “The Kids are Back” by Twisted Sister for this one. This a fun song, and very anthem like, and I’m sure you will pump your fists as I do when listening to this song. Just make sure not to spill your beer!

Hail the Hops, BeerMetalDude!
