According to their website, Eel River Brewing was the first brewery to go Organic in America, and they have been brewing organically since 1999. Way to go guys. This IPA is said to be of the English-style, which is different than the American-style IPA which is a lot more intense in the hop bitter character.

Used a regular blank pint glass, this beer poured a hazy copper color with an off white three finger wide foamy head, which reduced down to a half finger width rather quickly, but it did leave a soap sud like lacing on the glass.

The nose has an aroma of sweet malts which reminds me of bread. There is a yeast quality in the nose, and has a light layer of citrus, mainly orange peel. Not much else going on here. Just like it’s supposed to be, this English-style IPA definitely does not carry the high hop aroma as with most American IPAs, which is the style that I really love. For me, this style and this beer is a bit weak with the aroma, but I guess that’s the way it’s supposed to be.

As for taste, it is also on the weaker side, but then again, this seems to have been done intentionally for this style. There is a slight hoppyness to this with a sweet citrus like spice, but it is really masked by the malts of this beer. There is a lot of malty caramel flavor here that overpowers the small amount of hops that are seeping through. The aftertaste is just of strong alcohol, completely killing all other flavors you got already.

This has a thick body and is silky on the throat as you can really feel the yeast with this one.

In conclusion, I am not too sure if I will ever drink this beer again. I’m glad I have this bottle for my collection, but it is time to move on. So on that note, I needed a song with a meaning of quick kill, next victim… Easy, DYING FETUS and the song “One Shot, One Kill” from their 2003 album, Stop at Nothing. Metalheads, enjoy this song! Beer lovers, not too sure if you will enjoy this one either, but go ahead and give it a try, I guess!
