prostHere we have another one of these inexpensively good beers brought to you by the good people over at Josephs Brau Brewing Company….err…Gordon Biersch Brewing Company, made for direct sales at Trader Joe’s Grocery Store. Well, at least every website I am reading is pointing to Gordon Biersch actually being the brewery that takes care of Trader Joe’s beer.

Using my Five Stones Brewing pint glass for this session, the beer poured a bright copper color, capped with a thin white head, which quickly vanished. There was no lacing left on the glass.

The nose on this beer has a sweet caramel malt scent, mixed in with faint floral hops. There is also an overlaying aroma of toasted bread, spice and pepper.

The taste is exactly like the nose. There is a sweet caramel flavor, mixed with spice and pepper, with a faint floral hop taste. The pepper lingers a bit blending with a toasted bread flavor that lingers a bit on the aftertaste.

The body is a medium thickness. The mouthfeel is smooth that finished with a bitter bite, and moderate carbonation.

Overall, I enjoyed this beer, and will more than likely buy it again to enjoy on a nice day outside here in Texas. Prost was a very drinkable beer, and very easy to have more than one in a single session. Trader Joe’s has a home run with this beer at the price they sell it for. If you have not been to Trader Joe’s yet, go now, and check out their beer collection.

sodomagentorangefrontik6Metal Connection: Since the word “Prost” means “Cheers” in German, what better way to represent the Metal Connection than with German Thrash Metal legends, Sodom. I have featured the title track from their 1989 album, Agent Orange. This is the first track on the album, and what a way to begin an album, with such  fierce, powerful sickness! Drinking a Maibock or Helles Lager like Prost, is a perfect beer to be having in hand while spinning some classic Sodom! PROST!
