Beer: Worthington’s White Shield IPA

Character: Said to be the longest surviving India Pale Ale

Well well well… A MolsonCoors beer has made into Home Sweet Hell (my house). I am a beer drinker who is against the Big 3 (Anheuser Busch, Miller, and Coors), and will usually not support beers brewed or bought out by these guys, unless, like in this case, they are disguised, hiding behind a craft beer label. Oh well, I never thought I’d have to sit at the store and read the entire label from front to back to make sure I am not giving money to these bastards! Review: Bourwerij Sterkens St. Sebastiaan Golden Ale

YeastHoistBrewery: Brouwerij Sterkens
Beer: St. Sebastiaan Golden Ale
Style: Tripel
ABV: 7.7%
Character: Ceramic Bottle with Yeast Hoist Artwork
Metal Connection: EMETH – Anochi Kofer

BeerMetal Rating: 4/5

First thing first with this one. The bottle packaging is amazing! Now, I knew none of the facts about this beer when I purchased it, but I found out that the name on the front of the bottle, Yeast Hoist is not the actual name of the beer. This is actually the name of an ongoing series of comics by American artist, Ron Regé, Jr. The artist supplied the artwork that is printed on the limited edition ceramic crock, and the fifteenth installment of the comic was made exclusively for this beer, and hangs from the neck of the bottle. Normally this Golden Ale is packaged different. See the artwork attached. Continue reading “Review: Bourwerij Sterkens St. Sebastiaan Golden Ale”

Review: Brauerei Schloss Eggenberg Samichlaus Bier Helles (Limited Edition)

ABV: 14%
Character: Aged for 18 months before bottling (8 months longer than most Hellas style beers)
Metal Connection: ABIGOR – Diabolic Unity

BeerMetal Rating: 4/5

Poured into my Boulevard Brewing Smokestack Series tulip glass. This poured a nice, clear bronze color similar to that of Bourbon. This might as well be. I can definitely see myself pouring shots of this beer and giving them to the beer uneducated, and they will totally believe that they just took a shot of Bourbon. Wish I could find another bottle of this, so I can put that to the test, but with the rarity of this beer, I really don’t think I would play around with it! Sorry! There was a thin off white colored head that quickly vanished, but I have noticed that a lot with strong beers. Review: Attack of the Fruit Beer!

FRUIT
When I took my usual trip to Gabriel’s Liquor Superstore to purchase new craft beer, I saw they had a couple of beers from Sea Dog Brewing Company, an Apricot Wheat Ale, and a Blueberry Wheat Ale. These are my first beers by this brewery, and I was excited to get to these for this review. Al that comes to mind though before I begin are my “blasphemous elite Metal head friends who say “Fruit don’t belong in a beer, Blargh!” Continue reading “Review: Attack of the Fruit Beer!”

Review: BrewDog Dogma

dogmaBrewery: BrewDog UK
Beer: Dogma Original
Style: Spiced/Herb Ale
ABV: 7.8%
Character: Brewed w/ guarana, Californian poppy seeds, kola nut and Scottish heather honey
Metal Connection: LOCK UP – Vomiting Evil

BeerMetal Rating: 4/5

First thing first, I had the hardest time finding information about this particular beer online. If you go to the BrewDog website and look up “Dogma” you get an orange labeled heather honey infused scotch ale. On to Google… “Brewdog Dogma”… found a few websites calling the one I purchased the Brewdog Dogma Original. OK, I’ll go with that then. Oh yeah, and I just read that this one used to be called BrewDog Speed Ball. Awesome! Continue reading “Review: BrewDog Dogma”
