blindambitionFirst of all this black matte ceramic bottle complete with amazing artwork by artist known as C.F. is what caught my attention with this beer at first. I knew I wanted to buy it for the bottle, regardless of what was in it. I had to read the back of the bottle to see that this was a beer by Southern Star Brewery from Conroe, TX. I have had good experience with this brewery already, having liked their Bombshell Blonde, Buried Hatchet Stout, Pine Belt Pale, Old Potentate, and LeMort Vivant. So this was definitely a good find, in my opinion. Rumor around the internet is that this beer is just a repackaged LeMort Vivant, but according to other sources those rumors are false, and that Blind Ambition might be the same style of beer, but it is more of a relative to LeMort Vivant, than anything else.

I have been waiting impatiently to drink this one since I purchased it. I finally had a good day to drink it. My good friend Kyle Carlson from SA Beer Hub, and his wife Shirley came over to share a few beers with me. This was the first one we had this evening. We used pint glasses for this beer, pouring a golden/light orange color with a small thin white bubbly head that quickly disappeared, leaving little to no lacing on the way down.

The aroma was very sweet, grainy, a little yeasty, and had a touch of honey to the nose. No hop aroma, no real malty smells either. It was easy on the nose, light and sweet like a fruit.
The taste is something special to me. This is a beer I could drink in a variety of occasions. This is definitely a social beer, as it was going down pretty smooth while enjoying good company, that’s for sure. It had hints of banana, light caramel, and a bit bread like. Thick heavy like body finishing with a crisp feeling in your mouth.

Overall, I wasn’t blown away by this beer, but I wasn’t turned away either. I will definitely enjoy this beer again. In fact, if sold in a different packaging for more mass production than I will get it again. I say this cause the price for this one in this ceramic bottle was a little pricy. I am happy I got to add this beautiful bottle to my collection though, but I definitely don’t need more than one. I do say to you though, if you don’t have one, go get one…

Metal Connection: Right away when I purchased this beer, the name Blind Ambition made me think of songs with the word “blind” in it. VADER came to the plate first with their song “Back to the Blind”. The unique packaging of this beer goes so well next to the uniqueness of Peter’s voice. Definitely one of a kind. You know when you hear this voice, you are listening to Vader, just as this is a one of a kind bottle, no other like it.
