I was excited to try this beer, but I didn’t know what to expect since I have never had a feijoa fruit before. I was trusting the judgement of the brewers at New Belgium & Dieu du Ciel! to include such an exotic fruit. It is known as pineapple guava, and is actually part of the same family as the guava fruit. The Lips of Faith Series are quickly becoming one of my favorite beer lines. I have really enjoyed most that I have had.
I turned to the good ‘ol Luke Skywalker pint glass again for this beer. Poured a copper color with a thin white head which stuck around for a while, leaving a thin circle lacing on the glass.
The aroma starts off a bit tart, mixed with tropical fruit. I can also pick up hints of biscuit.
The taste though is something unique. This beer went in different directions in flavors. Tastes of tropical fruit, a slight tartness that made this a little sour, mixed with a deep pepper-like flavor. There is a guava-like presence due to the feijoa, tastes of alcohol, grapes, and malts all mixed within.
So if you are looking for a complex beer, if you are looking for something unique, if you are looking for something new, then look no further. o pick up a bottle of Heavenly Feijoa right now!
Seeing as the feijoa fruit is native to Brazil, I chose a new upcoming band from Brazil to pair with this beer. Let me introduce you to FORCEPS. Recently picked up by Texas label, Ossuary Industries, this band will be making waves in the underground for sure.

Cheers, BeerMetalDude!
